Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas. Volunteers make a tremendous difference in the lives of youth at our three area Clubs and are vital to the success of our programs and special events.

Individual Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for volunteering your time and your skills! We now have three ways for individual volunteers to get involved - in our Clubs, with our program support staff, or for one-time opportunities. Please read on to find the opportunity that best fits your interests.

Club Program Volunteers

Club Program Volunteers play a crucial role in our day-to-day Club activities. These volunteers not only provide additional supervision in the Clubs, but bring their own expertise to enhance programming, support the Club staff, and provide additional positive adult interactions with members.

How would you like to make a big difference in a child's life?

Read a book with a child
Help a teen learn Web design or music mixing
Teach classes on painting, cooking, sewing, dancing, or acting
Tutor kids who need help with homework
Help kids practice their athletic skills and teach good sportsmanship
Run a pool, ping pong, or foosball tournament
Lead a class in your area of expertise
Help a Club member with creative writing or poetry
Assist staff on a field trip
And much more!

Requirements:

This opportunity is open to individuals age 18 and up, who are committed to volunteering in the Clubs for a minimum of two hours per week for three months.
Attend a Volunteer Orientation session.
Pass a background check to ensure volunteer suitability.

Program Support Volunteers

Program Support Volunteers are vital in keeping our behind-the-scenes operations running. These volunteers assist with program support functions such as administrative work, computer maintenance and Web design, special event planning and implementation, and general facilities maintenance on an ongoing basis.

Requirements:

Attend a Volunteer Orientation session.
Sign a liability waiver and confidentiality waiver.

One-Time Opportunities

Join our Volunteer group!

This special set of individuals focuses on one-time special events and projects. As a member of our Volunteer group, you will receive specialized communications with upcoming opportunities that you can choose to participate in. Volunteer group is the perfect group for volunteers who want to help Boys & Girls Clubs through a wide variety of rewarding volunteer activities with less time commitment.

Volunteer group opportunities include:

Scrub-a-Club - Help us provide a clean, welcoming, kid-friendly environment at our Clubs! Volunteer activities may include washing and painting walls, cleaning carpets, planting flowers, and general Club clean-up activities.
Club Program Events - Help with special programs and events at the Clubs! Opportunities may include: Haunted House set-up and tear down (October), Talent Show judges (Summer), Holiday Party (December) and many more!
Special Events - Help BGCSCK with projects that help make our fundraising events run smoothly. Opportunities may include: Helping with registration at Day for Kids, preparing silent auction items for the annual Gala, and much more! With your help, we can raise the dollars needed to help us provide a safe and enriching place for young people to go after the school bell rings.

Requirements:

Attend a brief orientation on the day of event/project.
Sign a liability waiver.

Group Projects

Thank you for your interest in organizing a special project to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas!

Group Projects are perfect for companies, organizations, and schools who would like to organize a special activity to help the more than 1,500 youth served annually by Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas. There are many ways you can help - from collecting much needed items on our wish list, to completing one-time projects designed specifically for your group.

Group Project examples:

Participate in a Scrub-a-Club clean up event to help our Clubs remain safe, kid-friendly environments.
Host a special event for our Club members such as a Holiday Party, Arts & Crafts Day, or Sports & Fitness Field Day.
Lead a program in your group's area of expertise such as musical performance, dancing, photography, science, athletics, etc.
Plant a garden at one of our Clubs.
And much more!

If your company or organization would like to schedule a large group project, please allow at least three weeks’ notice between contacting us and the scheduled date of your project so that we can find the best Club match for you.
